This Family of
Long-horned Grasshoppers includes True Katydids, Bush and
Round-Headed Katydids, Cone-headed Grasshoppers, Meadow
Grasshoppers, and Shield-backed Grasshoppers. Its members are
larger insects usually greenish sometimes brownish in color.
They are plant feeders and generally overwinter in the egg
stage.
These avid songsters are are readily collected by
sweep-net or hand. |
