Blattodea
Cockroaches and Termites

Cockroaches can be found just about anywhere depending upon the species. German Cockroaches and Brown-banded Cockroaches can be found in greasy kitchens and under sinks inside homes. Oriental Cockroaches and Smokey-brown Cockroaches can be pests inside homes, but prefer to live outside under leaf litter and moist/ damp areas. Most are fast and difficult to catch. Cockroaches are most active at night and some species are attracted to lights.

Termites used to fall under the now defunct Order Isoptera. Now termites are considered to fall under the order Blattodae and the order Isoptera has been dropped. I collect Subterranean termite in wooded areas with a pick and an aspirator. Just turn over and or break open logs and branches littering the forest floor and you are bound to find them.
